Tesla Powerwall is a lithium ion home battery that charges using electricity generated from solar panels, to power your home in the evening, safely and economically. Completely automated, compact, and simple to install, Tesla Powerwall enables you to maximise self-consumption of solar power generation.

When combined with a new Solahart Solar Power system (photovoltaic panels and inverter), the Tesla Powerwall will allow you to maximise the utilisation of your solar power by storing excess electricity produced during the day for use at any time. You’ll reduce your reliance on power from the grid and lower your power bills even more.

Can I retrofit a Tesla Powerwall onto an existing solar power system?

Yes however there may be certain design restrictions based on your current system. Your Solahart dealer will design the best system to suit your requirements.

 

Can I install a solar power system now and a Tesla Powerwall later?

Yes. Solahart can supply you with a Battery Ready PV system which enables a Tesla Powerwall to be installed at a later date

 

Where in the house can they be installed?

The Powerwall is rated for installation indoors or outdoors and designed to be wall mounted. Bear in mind that the Powerwall cooling system can produce noise which may not be desirable in a living area.

 

How much space do they take up?

They are designed to hang on a wall – they are 130 cm high, 86 cm wide and 18 cm deep. The Powerwall is required to have clearance areas around the unit of at least 30cm above and below and 10cm to either side of the unit.

 

Can I run my house on a Tesla Powerwall?

The Tesla Powerwall is not currently intended for entire home backup. It has been designed to optimise the power you generate from your solar power system or the power you use from the grid mains electricity. The functionality to run your entire house although this functionality may be available in the future however. Multiple Powerwalls will likely be required in this case.

 

What will the benefit be for consumers?

A battery can generally be used to store excess PV generation, or low cost grid energy, so that this can be used at another time. The amount of money you save from a battery depends on your individual energy generation and usage situation. Can I go off the grid?

Not currently. The Tesla Powerwall is designed to reduce the amount of power required from the grid but you will still need to be connected for additional power requirements. Off-grid functionality may be available in the future.

 

Can I monitor the performance of the Tesla Powerwall?

The Powerwall can be monitored through the inverter monitoring platform. Your Solahart dealer can assist with setting up this monitoring system for you. Note that monitoring requires internet access.

 

How much do they cost?
